We’re pretty huge fans of Lord of the Rings and all things Tolkien over here at DFAT; which is why we were especially excited when Ben Pitchford contacted us regarding his Lego Rivendell set. We have never seen a Lego set so epic in scope and as you take a look at the pictures below, you can tell that Ben put a lot of love and energy into the project. He has also submitted the downsized version of the Elven Paradise to Lego Ideas to potentially have the toy company pick it as an upcoming set.

Ben was kind enough to share some words about the project and what influenced him.

It was a process of watching the 1st Hobbit movie and studying images of Rivendell while building it over 11 months off and on. I added the lights using many different LEDs and remote controlled LEDs for the buildings. The water is made with translucent dark and light blue pieces that hide the wires during the day but glow at night. There are 30 waterfalls which most light up. I choose Rivendell because of the landscape and the fact that it was in both the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series. Currently, I’m gathering support for a number of the builds on the LEGO IDEAS page which I included before.
