Harrison walked through another door. He had been doing the same thing for as long as he could remember. It could have been days, maybe years. The thought occasionally tickled his mind that he was dead. He never dwelled on it for too long. There wasn’t any point, if he were dead, would it matter if he knew? The room he entered was unlike any he had ever seen, as far back as he could remember.

Dept.H #7 (Dark Horse)

I want to love this series, I really do, but man is is dry. It’s strange, there is a whole hell of a lot going on in the comic, but it still feels dry. It has a lot to do with the pacing. All that being said. It is a phenomenal comic, just maybe not my style.

Rumble #15 (Image)

John Arcudi (W) James Harren (A)

My interest in this series has been waning recently. I don’t really have a reason besides my ongoing theory about ongoing creator owned series. I think the main story they wanted to tell has been told, now they need to figure out where to go from there.

Astro City #40 (DC)

Kurt Busiek (W) Carmen Nunez Carnero (A)

I didn’t realize that the trip back to Shadow Hill would be to revisit the story and characters from our first time there. I was pleasantly surprised with the realization. Let me stew in this.

Batman #9 (DC)

Tom King (W) Mikel Janin (A)

The strangeness of Monster Men is over and now we have, in my eyes, a proper return to our regularly scheduled plotline. Is it really that surprising that Amanda Waller is up to some shady shit again?

Black Panther #7 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Chris Sprouse (A)

I’m not going to lie, I got giggly when I saw who was going to be in Crew. Shit is going down, Wakandan style.

Death of X #2 of 4 (Marvel)

Jeff Lemire/Charles Soule (W) Aaron N. Kuder (A)

Dammit, the first issue of this comic was amazing. Sure, it’s a little weird that the second one comes out right after, but hey, I’m not complaining this time. To all the neigh-sayers out there that are going to theorize about Marvel killing all the Mutants, I say this. Go look at the fucking solicitations.

The Mighty Thor #12 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)

Okay, so we get a history of Mjolnir. I didn’t think I needed this issue as much as I do. Knowing Aaron and Dauterman, this is going to be a fantastic issue.

Green Arrow #9 (DC)

Ben Percy (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)

Something is bugging me about this arc. Everything seems too good to be true. I think things aren’t as they seem on this island. Who knows, I tend to lean on the paranoid side.

Archie #13 (Archie)

Mark Waid (W) Veronica Fish (A)

Go read a fucking Archie comic.

Doctor Strange #13 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Chris Bachalo (A)

The pacing on this series is top notch. If you are going to strip Doctor Strange of the bulk of his powers, I suppose you can’t do it with a better team of creative people.

Uncanny Inhumans #14 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Carlos Pacheco (A)

Man, the Inhumans have a way of mucking things up. I mean sure, they are a royal race of halfbreed alien people, just hanging out in the middle of New York city, but really, you think they could keep their noses down. On second thought, maybe not.

Black Widow #7 (Marvel)

Chris Samnee/Mark Waid (W) Chris Samnee (A)

Dammit this series is good. I mean, it should be good, but it’s almost too good even given that. Seriously, how do these guys ooze story like they do. Hardly fair, I mean look at me, I can barely string a few creative words together. Share the wealth, guys.

Infamous Iron Man #1 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Alex Maleev (A)

Okay, so, I’m not going to lie. I’ve missed out on Invincible Iron Man. I hear it’s great. Then this rolls along, and I think, I have to get this. I know this move will probably piss a lot of people off, but I mean, those people will probably already be pissed off at a myriad of other pointless things, so I’m not going to care about them. Victor Von Doom is my favorite Marvel character, hands down. Fuck everyone, I’m getting this.

Black Hammer #4 (Dark Horse)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dean Ormston (A)

Not so subtle stab in the heart in the last issue has me begging for more. I suppose that makes sense, I mean I pour money into comics, so I suppose I have a masochistic streak in my bones. Whatever, I eat sadness for breakfast and cry myself to sleep every night listening to Brian Eno.

Manifest Destiny #24 (Image)

Chris Dingess (W) Matthew Roberts (A)

The end to the Sasquatch saga. Satisfying summation of a series of Sasquatch stories. Yeah, This series is amazing. The perfect example of a comic that has managed to keep things fresh with every single issue. This last arc has probably revealed more about the mystery of this comic than the four arcs combined, and guess what? I am begging for more.

There was a long mirror, suspended from nothing, in the center of the room. As he approached it, he began to hear a heartbeat. He couldn’t place where it was coming from. It almost sounded as if the mirror itself was emitting the sound, but as he stepped nearer, he was certain it was coming from within himself. The life-affirming pounding was screaming in his ears. Almost to the point that he couldn’t bear it, still he resisted defeat. His hand came into contact with the perfect reflection of the mirror. It crumpled like foil beneath his fingers before a small hole ripped in the center. Through it he could see darkness, pitch black. It made him smile.
