The warble of a bass floated through the crisp Berlin air. Trey had been trying to find the source of the beautiful melody for an hour now, having traversed the same four city blocks again and again. Still nothing, it always seemed just out of his reach. It was infuriating him. Mostly because he had a very attractive woman waiting for him at the end of the funk rainbow. She told him to “follow the rhythm”, he wished now that he had insisted on something more specific.

This series used to be called 8house. That was almost a year ago. It’s a comic that has new creators on for each story, which all takes place in the same strange universe. It’s been on hiatus for a while, but given the nature of the comic, I’m not surprised. I’m just glad it’s back.

Batman #12 (DC)

Tom King (W) Mikel Janin (A)

Batman not at the top? Obviously it’s just not good. Wrong. So wrong. I feel dirty putting this comic this close to the top, but look at this week’s lineup. Not fair.

Green Arrow #12 (DC)

Ben Percy (W) Otto Schmidt (A)

Next storyline here we come. I really love this comic, it’s one of DC’s best right now. If you are a fan of this character, or of DC in general and you aren’t reading this, what the boxing-glove-arrow-shooting fuck are you doing?

We learned a lot from the last issue, but not enough god dammit. Time for another, but maybe this time my curiosity will be piqued. Probably not. How many times have I hoped for that so far, to no avail? Whatever, still fun to read.

Avengers #2 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Mike Del Mundo (A)

This series is really exciting. Waid pulled a Hickman and showed us what the next year in Avengers is going to look like, and it looks fucking awesome. Can we get another epic run? I’m putting money down now.

Champions #3 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Humberto Ramos (A)

Part two of Waid’s master plan. I really love the dynamic of this comic, it is a shining star in a sometimes bland superhero landscape. Sorry guys, but it’s true.

The Unworthy Thor #2 (of 5) (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Olivier Coipel (A)

Loved the last issue. Loved it a lot, loved the end of the issue even more. I am very ready to learn something. So, you know, don’t fucking disappoint me.

Moon Knight #9 (Marvel)

Jeff Lemire (W) Wilfredo Torres/Francesco Francavilla/James Stokoe/Greg Smallwood(A)

The last issue was fucking intense, and managed to explain a ton, while also leaving me with even more questions. I love that. Seriously, this comic is incredible.

It seems things can only get more fucked up as this comic goes on. That’s fine with me. The point is it’s still going. I need stability in my life.

Trey was adjusting his bearing yet again after the music shifted to somewhere behind him for the millionth time, when he saw a group of oddly time displaced women walking and laughing. One of them was wearing a bonnet and a long black dress, another a bob hairdo and a frilly dress, another was doused in white and black make up and had her hair molded into long rows of spikes. He ran after them, trying to get their attention when they slipped into an alley. Trey got to the edge of the side street just as the cobblestones opened up beneath them and they descended slowly. One even tossed a wink his way.
