Out of the muck and despair climbed a villainous form. Fungus and dirt seeped into every crack of its weathered face. Swamp water ran through the lines on the things face. Blood swirled in the water, becoming part of the mud. Matted hair pushed to the side, the creature took a deep breath of stale air.

Black Panther #12 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Chris Sprouse (A)

Man, I hate to say this, but this comic has been crazy dry for the last couple issues. If it doesn’t get at least a little more adventurous, it may hit the chopping block. Really sad to read the words I just typed.

Iron Fist #1 (Marvel)

Ed Brisson (W) Mike Perkins (A)

Super excited for this one. I’m hoping that Brisson knocks the pants off of this title. I missed Kaare Andrew’s run, which I regret every day, so I hope this makes up for that a little bit.

Hulk #4 (Marvel)

Mariko Tamaki (W) Nico Leon (A)

Really dig this series right now. Interested to see where this goes after the first arc. That could be what makes this series spectacular. First arcs usually aren’t the best gauge of a series. At least, in my opinion.

Black Hammer #7 (Dark Horse)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dean Ormston (A)

Haven’t seen this one in two months. Got a little worried there for a minute. Happy to have it back in the stack. Excited to see where the next arc goes.

Bloodshot Reborn #0 (Valiant)

Jeff Lemire (W) Renato Guedes (A)

Don’t know what the deal is with the zero issue. Maybe this is where they show off the new Bloodshot status quo, or maybe a new title. Weird that we haven’t heard of anything yet if that’s the case.

Invincible Iron Man #5 (Marvel)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Stefano Caselli (A)

Everyone wants a piece of Riri. What, you though that fangirls and boys were the only ones who wanted some attention? It seems the whole Marvel Universe is on the Riri-train.

Detective Comics #953 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Christian Duce (A)

Shiva is a stone cold badass. Seriously, she just walks into a room and everyone gives up. How can the team confront this foe and win. Probably Orphan. I mean seriously, that chick is awesome.

Uncanny Inhumans #20 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Aaron Kim Jacinto (A)

The final part to the Maximus romp through the Marvel Universe. This dude deserves his own comic, I mean, this has been one of the most fun arcs this comic has had, and that’s saying something because this comic is awesome.

Wonder Woman #19 (DC)

Greg Rucka (W) Liam Sharp (A)

I wonder (no pun intended) if this new group, Poison, has anything to do with the character Doctor Poison. I mean it would make for some wicked synergy seeing as she’s gonna be in the Wonder Woman movie. Probably not, but that would be pretty clever.

The Unworthy Thor #5 of 5 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Olivier Coipel (A)

Holy shit. We may FINALLY get answers about Odinson’s worthiness. We fucking better, not just because it’s the last issue in the series, but because Aaron totally said it was gonna happen in this issue.

Loose Ends #3 of 4 (Image)

Jason Latour (W) Chris Brunner (A)

This series is awesomely dark. It’s dirty in all the right places. It’s the kind of person you meet once, changes your life, then years later makes you regret ever having met them. That’s a good thing if you ask me.

Curse Words #3 (Image)

Charles Soule (W) Ryan Browne (A)

This series is fucking hilarious. I know I say this kind of thing a lot, but if I were an executive at one of these television networks, I’d be jumping all over this property. If that does happen, please let it be somewhere like FX or HBO, this comic is dark.

Descender #20 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dustin Nguyen (A)

Welp. Time for more sadness. Isn’t that just fucking great.

Reborn #5 of 6 (Image)

Mark Millar (W) Greg Capullo (A)

HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WAS A MINI SERIES! I probably knew, but then blocked it out because I didn’t want to believe it. Whatever, leave me, see if I care.

The thing reached down into the abyss searching for something. His hands ran across slime and slithering creatures until it felt the cold appeal of American made aluminum. Pulling out his trusty baseball bat, he felt at ease. Something that may have at one point resembled a smiling mouth slid across his face like an open wound.
