I know it’s been awhile, but it’s time once again to round up the latest news and rumors surrounding Marvel Studios’ Phase 2!
There are some great pics from the Cleveland portion of shooting for Captain America 2. It’s great to see some pics of “villain” the Winter Soldier. Also thrown in there is a pic of Scar-Jo who is reprising her role as the Black Widow.

A very surprising casting has taken place for the upcoming sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy. Benecio Del Toro has been picked up to play an undisclosed character at this point, but the deal is for multiple movies. This is is how you build a movie for the general public, throw a bunch of respected and familiar actors into the mix and see what happens! Geeks are speculating that he may be playing Rocket Raccoon, but some are saying that he has been hired to play the mad titan himself, Thanos. Del Toro’s past incarnations of psychopaths in movies like Sin City and Savages make him the perfect choice, and a little Mo-Cap like they did with the Hulk, could really tie the series together! Marvel GURU Joss Whedon recently sat down with EW to talk about his upcoming TV series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Here’s some of the things he talked about, including shedding a little light on to two of the biggest mysteries of the show!
On the return of Agent Coulson
“Well, it’s a very interesting explanation… We’re gonna earn it, that’s not something you take lightly.”
On where does S.H.I.E.L.D. stand in regards to the rest of Phase 2
“It’s very important to me that the show stands on its own, that people who never saw any of the movies can tune in and enjoy it. We like being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we like having all of the mythos to play off of. But if the show was “You just missed Tony Stark, wow, he was just here!” it would be the most unsatisfying show ever. We have a new ensemble, apart from Clark, it’s all people I’ve never worked with before, but I’m really excited about them, I’m really proud of them and I think people are just going to want to see them every week.”
On who J. August Richards is portraying
“I’m not going to say who he’s playing, but he’s certainly cranky as you can tell from the trailer. It”s great, he came in to guest star and he tears it up. He’s got that kind of energy, he’s so much fun, and such a lovely guy.”
So there you have it Towelites! Iron Man 3 has started off Phase 2 with great success and I and everyone else in the 9 realms are really looking forward to Thor: The Dark World later this year!
