I was a big fan of Zack Snyder‘s, 300, film. Based off the comic by Frank Miller, it was super violent and featured a lot of slow-motion action scenes that were inventive for their time. Now, Noam Murro, is taking over as directer on the upcoming sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire. The film looks to follow the path that Snyder started and I’m excited to see it. Check out the trailer below!

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

“300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

300: Rise of an Empire is due out March 7th, 2014. The film is being directed by Noam Murro and stars: Lena Headey, Sullivan Stapelton, Rodrigo Santoro and Eva Green.
