In what comes as a complete surprise to absolutely no one, Alden Ehrenreich, has been OFFICIALLY cast as Young Han Solo. The actor took the stage today at Star Wars Celebration Europe, along with directors of the film, Chris Lord and Phil Miller, and said that since the news was so widely known he could only respond back with the “Congratulations” that he was received from people with a wink and a smile.

The two directors auditioned countless actors and were very happy when Ehrenreich auditioned and they knew they found their Han.

The filmmakers were asked: “What does Han Solo mean to you?”

“I sort of relate to him. He doesn’t want to do anything he’s told. When you tell him not to do something it makes him want to do it more,” Lord says. “The dichotomy of this grouchy, seemingly cynical guy who has the biggest heart in the galaxy… to me, that’s a great character to make a movie about.”

Miller said:

“He’s a maverick, he’s a scoundrel, he’s clever, but he’s not smart. And he wants to prsent himself as a cool tough-guy, but in the end he always does the right thing, and that’s why you love him so much.”

Glad to find that Alden Ehrenreich fits the bill for the scoundrel with a heart of gold. Stay Tooned here to DFAT for more news on Young Han Solo and all the other amazing things from the galaxy that’s far, far away.
