Okay, What the heck is happening right now? It looks like Christopher Miller and Phil Lord are leaving the untitled Han Solo Star Wars film at the 11th hour! The movie has been shooting for months and is close to being a wrap, yet they are exiting the film and citing creative differences according to Deadline.

The thing that makes no sense to me, is that this is a Disney movie! Yet, producer Kathleen Kennedy confirms the news via the quote below.

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon.”

I’m curious as to how long this has been going on for, if they will be announcing it “soon.” The directors had this to say.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

These are the guys who brought us Clone High, 21 Jump Street, and the Lego Movie. I’m sure that whatever they had up their sleeve was either a problem with them not wanting the film branch off into a trilogy or they realized that it was too hard to live up to what Harrison Ford had already brought to the franchise. Whatever the case, even though I believe in LucasFilm, this doesn’t bode will for this film.
