Today, we are getting our first look at Tauriel, played by actress Evangeline Lilly, in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Those of you not up on your Tolkien will not recognize the name, and that’s because she doesn’t exist in the book. Tauriel is one of the little tidbits that Peter Jackson is adding to bridge the 3 movies. According to Lilly, Tauriel is described as a warrior and head of the Elven Guard. “She’s the big shot in the army,” said Lilly. “So she knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. And she’s lethal and deadly.” So, a female Legolas? I can get behind that. Check out the image, which looks to be the back of a toy box, below.
