Hello ladies, gentlemen and towelites,
Welcome to another wonderful week of movie releases. Well, considering the past few weeks, maybe not “another”, but this one is a wonderful one indeed. Why?
Because first and foremost, this week we get the new 007 movie, Skyfall. I can go on and on about how amazing I think these latest Bond movies have been, but I’ll try to keep it simple. You see, I’ve never been much of a Bond fan until Daniel Craig took over, and now… I’m so much a fan I’ve begun collecting them from the very first one (Dr. No). Sam Mendes has done the amazing thing of blending the new, gritty Bond, with a taste of the classic super-agent Bond. I’m sure you’ve seen this, so you know what I’m talking about. As a side note, the release of Skyfall is bringing out the blu-ray release of some other 007 films! These include Diamonds are Forever and You Only Live Twice (Sean Connery), Octopussy (Roger Moore), The Living Daylights (Timothy Dalton), Tomorrow Never Days (Pierce Brosnan) and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (Telly Savalas).
Another release this week is Perks of Being a Wallflower, starring Emma Watson (Harry Potter’s). I haven’t seen this movie but it is on my to-do list. I think Emma has grown into a great actress, and this movie had great reviews, so…
A couple other movies on the list are The Man with the Iron Fists (starring Rick Yune and Russell Croew, directed by RZA), Bully and Silent Hill: Revelation (which I heard was worse then the first, and I personally thought the first was a load of ****).
On the television side we have season 4 of Nurse Jackie, and season 8 of Weeds.
And on the video game side, we have Aliens: Colonial Marines. I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, as I’ve been craving a FPS in the Aliens atmosphere and universe. Unfortunately, this game had many issues during development, and the initial reviews are sketchy, so… I’m hoping for something that is at the very least, decent.
Hope you guys see something you want (hint hint, Skyfall).
