We all knew that Justice League was going to make a big splash when it debuted over the past weekend, but we didn’t know quite what the numbers were going to be like. It was tracking to do around $106 million; which puts it much lower than Thor’s debut of over $120 million. That in itself isn’t great news. This film needed to be ‘The Avengers’ of the DC world; but instead, it failed miserably to appeal to fans and critics alike. You can read my own lengthy review of it HERE. It’s riddled with plot holes and ridiculousness and does little if anything to apologize for them. The proof is in the pudding though, as the film did come in at #1, but it only earned $96 million.

The film cost an estimated $350 million dollars and if that is to be believed, it’s got a lot of ground to cover to even break even, let alone be anything near profitable for Warner Bros. We shall see what they decide to do in the coming weeks and what the direction of the DCEU will take. In the meantime, the other premier of Wonder, took the #2 position with $27million. Given that movie probably cost that much, it’s a huge win. The rest of the Top Five are below.

1. ‘Justice League’
$96,000,000

2. ‘Wonder’
$27,050,000

3. ‘Thor: Ragnarok’
$21,786,000

4. ‘Daddy’s Home 2’
$14,800,000

5. ‘Murder on the Orient Express’
$13,800,000

Next weekend, is the premier of Pixar’s Coco and The Man Who Invented Christmas. As both are more-or-less aimed towards kids, I think that at least the former is going to destroy Justice League next weekend. It’s Thanksgiving week and those kids need something to do to be entertained. Will I be correct? Find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
