The Box Office Battlefield was a real war zone over this past weekend; but that didn’t stop Hidden Figures from taking the #1 spot for the second weekend in a row. The film has already earned an additional $20.5million and it could be even more going into Martin Luther King Jr. Day tomorrow. Most people are off of work and the Civil Rights inspired film could do even bigger numbers.

Hidden Figures went up against newcomers The Bye Bye Man, Patriots Day, Monster Trucks, Sleepless and Live By Night. They came in at 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and not even in the Top Ten, accordingly. In fact, Live By Night is so financially and critically panned, I won’t be surprised if Ben Affleck rushes right into helming The Batman, just so he has the opportunity to make other movies. The rest of the numbers are below.

1.Hidden Figures  $20,450,000

2.La La Land  $14,500,000

3.Sing  $13,810,970

4.Rogue One: A Star Wars Story  $13,759,000

5.The Bye Bye Man  $13,378,000

6.Patriots Day  $12,000,000

7.Monster Trucks  $10,500,000

8.Sleepless  $8,468,787

9.Underworld: Blood Wars  $5,815,000

10.Passengers$5,625,000

Next weekend, we see XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, along with Split. As stupid as the former looks, I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes the #1 spot. Split looks like a better movie, it’ll likely make it’s money back; but I can’t see it doing better than #5 at the Box Office. Will I be right? Find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
