I hate that debate of Marvel vs DC. I really really do. I’m a huge fan of both franchises with Batman and Spider-Man being my favorite superheroes of all time. All that being said, you can’t deny that what Marvel does with it’s films is (currently) an unbeatable formula. Their latest entry in their slate of films, Thor Ragnarok, took 1st place with $121 million and easily took the top spot at the Box Office.

The film was the best in the series and therefore it was also the biggest opener of the series. Director Taika Watiti breathed a lot more humor into the series, but it seems that’s exactly what the films needed; as the result is the film already grossing more than $470 million Worldwide. The other debut this weekend didn’t do all that great with, with A Bad Moms Christmas, earning 2nd place with $17 million. You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

1. Thor: Ragnarok $121 million

2. A Bad Moms Christmas $17 million

3. Jigsaw $6.7 million

4. Boo 2! A Madea Halloween $4.7 million

5. Geostorm $3 million

6. Happy Death Day $2.8 million

7. Thank You for Your Service $2.3 million

8. Blade Runner 2049 $2.2 million

9. Only the Brave $1.9 million

10. Let There Be Light $1.6 million

Next week, should be an interesting shake up to the Top Ten with the premiers of Daddy’s Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express. The former looks pretty unnecessary and will likely take 3rd or 4th. I think that Thor will remain at #1 and Murder will take #2. Find out if I’m right with my predictions on the next edition of Weekend Roundup.
