So, I thought I was one of the only people who even wanted to see M. Night Shyamalan’s newest film, Split. I guess not, figuring the movie took #1 at the Box Office this weekend and destroyed it’s competition. The thriller premiered with $40.2million and took down last week’s winner, Hidden Figures. It also beat out Vin Diesel‘s newest movie, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.

In a sequel that NOBODY was asking for, Diesel brought the extreme sports-minded anti-hero Xander Cage back to the big screen and earned $20million. Maybe that will be the final nail in it’s coffin; one can hope. You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

1. Split $40.2 million

2. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage $20 million

3. Hidden Figures  $16.3 million

4. Sing  $9 million

5. La La Land  $8.4 million

6. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story $7 million

7. Monster Trucks $7 million

8. Patriots Day $6 million

9. The Founder $3.8 million

10. Sleepless $3.7 million

Next weekend, we have the “last” Resident Evil film aptly called The Final Chapter. I love these movies so I’m really pretty excited to see what happens with this film; but I don’t have high hopes. Will it be able to take down Split? Find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
