After spending five weeks topping the Box Office, Black Panther was finally dethroned this weekend. Not that we really need to weep for it, as it did become the most successful superhero movie of all-time DOMESTICALLY, this weekend. It’s sitting at $630 million here in the States and over $1.2 billion Worldwide.

The debut of Pacific Rim Upsiring starring John Boyega was able to take the #1 spot while earning $28 million. While that doesn’t seem like a very high number for a movie with a budget of $150 million; it also earned $120 million overseas. The first film didn’t do too great domestically either (though I loved it), so if it keeps pushing ahead, we may be lucky enough to get a third movie.

The other premier of the week was Sherlock Gnome, which took the #4 spot with $10.6 million. This edged out Tomb Raider to drop it down to #5 and the rest of the Top Films are below.

1. ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’
$28,003,000

2. ’Black Panther’
$16,658,000

3. ‘I Can Only Imagine’
$13,837,495

4. ‘Sherlock Gnomes’
$10,600,000

5. ‘Tomb Raider’
$10,430,000

Next weekend, we get the premiere of Steven Spielberg‘s newest film, Ready Player One. The adaptation of Ernest Cline‘s pop culture novel is getting some pretty great reviews and I’m beyond excited to see the movie. Will it be able to take down the Jaegars?
