The tale as old as time, Beauty and the Beast, premiered at #1 and destroyed the rest of it’s competition. The film took in $170 million, which was more than all of the other films in the Top Ten combined. It also had the biggest premiere of a film in the month of March by besting last years Batman v Superman; which had debuted with $166 million.

The other premiere of the weekend was The Belko Experiment. The no-budget horror film by writer James Gunn debuted in 7th and took in $4.1 million. Last week’s winner Kong: Skull Island took a dip down to #2, but still earned $28.9 million. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. Beauty and the Beast $170 million

2. Kong: Skull Island $28.9 million

3. Logan $17.5 million

4. Get Out $13.2 million

5. The Shack $6.1 million

6. The LEGO Batman Movie $4.7 million

7. The Belko Experiment $4.1 million

8. Hidden Figures  $1.5 million

9. John Wick: Chapter Two $1.2 million

Next weekend, Disney has a lot of competition coming to the theaters. Life, CHIPs, and Power Rangers are all set to debut. Honestly, none of them will even come close to the B&B juggernaut, but it’ll be interesting to see what they earn when stacked up a GOOD film.
