Go Go Disney Movies! It doesn’t quite roll off the tongue the same way as Power Rangers does, but Beauty and the Beast did get #1 at the Box Office over the weekend. The animated-turned-live-action-film landed in the 1st spot for the 2nd weekend in a row and took in another $88.3 million.

Power Rangers debuted in 2nd this past weekend and earned $40.5 million. This is better than the estimated $30 million that it was tracking to do and it put a big dent in it’s $100 million budget. The film was a pure nostalgia trip for old fans and seemed to win over newcomers as well. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. Beauty and the Beast $88.3 million

2. Power Rangers $40.5 million

3. Kong: Skull Island $14.4 million

4. Life $12.6 million

5. Logan $10.1 million

6. Get Out $8.7 million

7. CHiPs $7.6 million

8. The Shack $3.8 million

9. The LEGO Batman Movie $2 million

10. MET Opera: Idomeneo $1.3 million

The last week of March will see the premiers of The Boss Baby and Ghost in the Shell. I think that the latter looks phenomenal but I’m not sure it’s going to be big enough to take down the Disney juggernaut. Boss Baby on the other hand, well good luck to that.
