It looks like the world is still ready for some Web Head action, as Spider-Man Homecoming made its debut this past weekend in the #1 spot with $117 million. Not only is that the biggest premier of a solo character for the MCU, it’s the second biggest opening of a Spider-Man film behind the Sam Raimi, Spider-Man 3.
The other fantastic news for the Spidey film is that it made an additional $140 million internationally. This puts the movie at $257 million Worldwide. With the debut of Spider-Man, Despicable Me 3 dropped down to 3rd place with $34 million. You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.
1. Spider-Man: Homecoming $117 million
2. Despicable Me 3 $34 million
3. Baby Driver $12.8 million
4. Wonder Woman $10.1 million
5. Transformers: The Last Knight $6.3 million
6. Cars 3 $5.6 million
7. The House $4.8 million
8. The Big Sick $3.7 million
9. 47 Meters Down $2.8 million
10. The Beguiled $2.1 million
Next weekend, we have the premiere of War For the Planet of the Apes. Its going to be quite a battle for the #1 spot with both films being so well reviewed. My money is going to be on Spidey staying at the top because of word of mouth being so great; but we really won’t know until the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
