If you were like me, you were happily surprised by ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes.’ It had everything you wanted from a POTA movie, plus with it being in modern time, AND having James Franco; well it was a perfect little movie. So, I was excited to learn that we’d be getting a sequel entitled, ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.’ Plot details haven’t really been revealed yet, but director Rupert Wyatt sat down with Total Film and let us in on some things that WON’T make the new film. One thing he was quick to disspell is the time-traveling element that is so essential to Charlton Heston‘s character in the original film. Check out what he had to say below.

“I don’t foresee that. But it’s interesting you should ask that, because it’s the one big element that we made a conscious decision not to explore in the first one, and we were worried that there might be some backlash in the science fiction community because of it. When the story first came together we were very, very excited, and yet before we pitched it, I thought, ‘The one thing missing though is time travel. But it’s not necessary for this particular telling’. And I don’t really foresee it, to tell you the truth.”

Doesn’t really seem like this movie will lead right up to the beginning of the original POTA, which ROTPA didn’t either. Honestly, I’m ok with that. As long as the apes now do more talking and Caesar leads armies to take over the planet, that’s all I really need. What are your thoughts Towelites? We’ll keep ya posted on more ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ news as it comes in over here at DFAT.

Thanks to CBM for the heads up.
