Crossbones

john malkovichJohn Malkovich will be taking the helm of the Queen Anne’s Revenge in the upcoming show Crossbones. The NBC series is based on Colin Woodard’s “The Republic of Pirates”, originally it was Dr. House himself, Hugh Laurie up for the role but now the deal has been sealed and Malkovich is set to sail the high seas! No date has been set for the show, but it looks as if NBC has ordered 10 episodes to start!

The tale takes place on the island of New Providence in the Bahamas. This unique place of piracy, theft and outlaws is reigned by the fearsome pirate captain Edward Teach, known as Blackbeard. But a scheme has been designed to throw Blackboard from his throne. An assassin, Tom Lowe, is sent with the task to execute the pirate leader. However, as Lowe moves closer towards Blackbeard, he starts to admire his ideas and involvement in the rogue society. And of course, Lowe will not be Blackbeard’s only enemy.

Human

Karl-Urban-karl-urban-1155226_792_1003The J.J. Abrams sci-fi buddy cop show has finally received a title: Human. NOT ONLY THAT but it looks as if we have our lead in the show! Karl Urban (Star Trek, Judge Dread) will be portraying the human side of the team. Urban joins Michael Ealy, who will play Dorian the android detective, as John Kennex, a respected police officer who has shut down emotionally after a tragic mission left him critically injured. Also joining the cast is Minka Kelly (500 Days of Summer) who will play Valerie Stahl, described as a uniformed cop with a strong moral compass who believes the best of people.

Helix

SyfyBanner

SYFY has issued a 13-episode order for Ron Moore‘s (Battlestar Galactica) new series Helix and Steven Maeda (LostCSI: Miami) has come on board as showrunner. Helix is about a team of scientists investigating a possible disease outbreak  and is expected to begin production early in 2013 and to debut later this year. Another SYFY show by Moore is MORE than welcome as I have been feeling a major void in my attention to that network since the end of BSG.
