Summer 2013 has been a pretty lackluster time for the Box Office. I blame the quality of the films coming out. This weekend I was actually looking forward The World’s End being #1, but it was beat out by The Butler. I’m not even saying The Butler is a bad film, it’s probably fantastic; it’s just a shame that more genre films aren’t making money.
It’s really a shame that You’re Next didn’t premiere with more than $7mil at the Box Office; but at the same time, the film probably only cost that much to make. So, I guess that’s actually a win.
|1.||Lee Daniels’ The Butler||$17,018,000||$52.2|
|2.||We’re the Millers||$13,500,000||$91.7|
|3.||The Mortal Instruments||$9,300,000||$14|
|4.||The World’s End||$8,942,000||$8.9|
|8.||Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters||$5,200,000||$48.3|
Next week, I’m expecting The Butler to be #1 again. It’s going up against Ethan Hawke’s, Getaway, and the One Direction film. What a way to end the summer.
