Double Helix, best known for Killer Instinct, has been acquired by Amazon Game Studios. The studio was the product of a merger between The Collective and Shiny Entertainment back in 2007. All 75 employees will remain during the acquisition, which is great news in an industry where layoffs are common in these types of transactions.
Double Helix is currently working on Striders, a side scrolling action adventure, due out later this month. Amazon expanded beyond just selling copies of games to development with the creation of Amazon Game Studios in 2012, which released Living Classics. Their current offering is Air Patriots, which is available across multiple platforms.
