If you think about it, Beetlejuice is one of the most messed up ideas for a movie. It’s about a Ghost whose job is to EXORCISE the Humans in a house. Essentially he’s a hired killer. Only in the 80’s, and only with Tim Burton, would you get a movie like that to play on the big screen. However the pitch for the movie happened, I don’t really care, only cause Beetlejuice is one of my favorite movies of all time and I adore it.

Lydia Deetz Winona Ryder

It’s now OFFICIAL that The Ghost With the Most is getting a sequel. The writer of Dark Shadows, Seth-Grahame Smith, is working on the script, Michael Keaton has agreed to come back for the role; and Tim Burton has all but said YES, to being the director. Now, in a recent interview with The Daily Beast, another star may be coming to join the sequel. Winona Ryder hints that she could be coming back to play Lydia Deetz.

[box_light]”I’m kind of sworn to secrecy,” Ryder said Monday afternoon in Los Angeles. “But it sounds like it might be happening.”[/box_light]

She doesn’t want to sully the original film that made her one of Hollywood’s A-List actresses:

[box_light]”It’s a very precious movie to people,” she explained. “So there are a lot people like, ‘DON’T.'”[/box_light]

The film would take place 27 years later than the original and Ryder would not be returning unless Keaton and Burton were both involved:

[box_light]“I would never go near [a sequel] if it was not Tim and Michael,” she said. “Because those guys, I love.”[/box_light]

We’re really waiting on Burton to give the final go-ahead, and since he’s just wrapped filming on his newest movie, Big Eyes, there’s a possibility that he could be moving on to Beetlejuice 2 as his next film. We’ll keep you posted as more news comes here to DFAT, but I’m hoping we get to see this as another big contender in 2015!
