It’s hard to believe that Buffy has been around for 15 years. 15 years ago, Joss Whedon, had the vision to take his feminist views that a cheerleader could kick-ass and kill vampires, and put that idea on the small screen. Buffy The Vampire Slayer had already been a cult movie, but it wasn’t until it was a television series that it actually made it’s mark in pop culture history.

Even now, after the show has ended more than 9 years ago, Buffy still goes on in comic form for Dark Horse Comics. The NYCC panel started off as a focus on the upcoming season of the Buffy series. As Buffy gets older, so do her fans, the Buffy comics team talked about what to expect in the coming year. On the panel we had Dark Horse marketing’s Jeremy Atkins, Scott Allie (Buffy editor and Dark Horse’s editor-in-chief), Rebekah Isaacs (Angel and Faith artist), Jane Espenson (Buffy and Angel vet), and Sierra Hahn (editor).

The panel talked about new slayer, Billy, who we talked about in a previous article. They also had a special guest, Nicholas Brendon, come out and interact with fans in a Q&A. He was hilarious and the rest of the panel kept the show fun and informative. As a fan of Buffy since Day 1, the panel reinvigorated me with the feelings of why I fell in love with Buffy in the first place; and made me realize that I had better catch up on the comics.
