Shivers crawled up his arms, tracing the skin under his sweater. The room wasn’t cold per say, instead it was conveniently just about fifty degrees. Cold enough to make you shake, warm enough to keep you in the room. Terrance waited at the end of a long table in an empty board room. He waited for his name. He waited for his name and watched the clock.

Invaders #1 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Carlos Magno (A)

After Zdarsky’s recent explosion in Marvel, and the Namor: Best Defense issue he just put out, I cannot contain how excited I am for this book. Zdarsky is a master of the wholesome, a warlock of the humorous, and a hero of the heartfelt.

Ironheart #2 (Marvel)

Eve L. Ewing (W) Luciano Vecchio (A)

There wasn’t a whole lot to base this book off of. It was only one issue, it’s kinda like judging a book based on the first chapter. That being said, what they produced for us was impressive and I’m excited to see what this team does with this character.

Lodger #3 (of 5) (Black Crown)

Maria Lapham (W) David Lapham (W/A)

I feel myself warming up to this book. It is the hearth that sparks too much, at first I was wary of sitting next to the flame, but over the night I learn to love the danger, the heat it pumps into the room. Something like that.

Babyteeth #14 (Aftershock)

Donny Cates (W) Garry Brown (A)

Well, just when I think I’m out, they keep pulling me back in. Can I just say, Lucifer is always sexy. Why is that? Is that why he was God’s favorite angel? Is it blasphemous to say that? So many questions.

The Batman Who Laughs #2 (of 6) (DC)

Scott Snyder (W) Jock (A)

Ever wanted to see the Punisher, but Batman? Well, this is the issue for you, you strangely specific weirdo.

Black Panther #8 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Kev Walker (A)

I want to see how this book is going to fit into the overarching canon of the Marvel future. It is a vast and increasingly interesting space drama, and I never thought I’d say that about a Black Panther book. It’s 2019, things are different.

Man Without Fear #3 (of 5) (Marvel)

Jed MacKay (W) Danilo Beyruth (A)

This book would have a lot more impact on me if I didn’t already know that Daredevil is coming back to fight crime in a month. That being said, the chronicling of the battle within himself as he decides whether or not to hang the billy clubs up is an interesting idea and its being pulled off masterfully.

Catwoman #7 (DC)

Joëlle Jones (W) Elena Casagrande (A)

Joëlle is stepping back from the art on this title for a while, but don’t let that dissuade you. She has shown in excess that she can bring the thunder on the writing front. This book is an incredible exploration of this character and you’d be a fool to keep not reading it.

Wonder Woman #62 (DC)

G. Willow Wilson (W) Xermanico (A)

I love the new development of Ares. It’s strange and new and interesting and above all, it makes fucking sense and that kinda scares me.

Venom #10 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Ryan Stegman (A)

This is a book that I would never have expected I would love so much. I think this is a testament to following creative teams over characters. I don’t usually read Venom series, but I love these two gentlemen and they are selling the hell out of Eddie and his goo-buddy.

The Amazing Spider-Man #13 (Marvel)

Nick Spencer (W) Ryan Ottley (A)

Can we get a JJJ ongoing please? Is that something I can hope for?

Conan the Barbarian #2 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Mahmud Asrar (A)

I….I uh. I forgot to let you guys know I was getting this book. I’m sorry. I love Conan. Robert E. Howard’s stories are incredible and it’s near impossible to live up to that legacy, but this book does a decent job capturing the finer points of the magnificent bastard.

Detective Comics #996 (DC)

Peter J. Tomasi (W) Doug Mahnke/Jaime Mendoza (A)

This arc is blowing my fucking mind. It’s such a great idea and it’s being executed like a tightrope walker tiptoeing over a flaming pit of tigers. It’s anxiety inducing, but in the way that I like.

Justice League Dark #7 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Raul Fernandez (A)

This book keeps getting better and it’s not fair because I already liked it, now I’m afraid it will outgrow me and leave me for another reader.

Fantastic Four #6 (Marvel)

Dan Slott (W) Aaron Kuder (A)

My favorite metal boy is back and he probably didn’t learn a whole lot since we last saw him. While I have liked the development he has gone through since Secret Wars, I am interested in how they turn him back into the bad guy.

Isola #6 (Image)

Brenden Fletcher (W) Karl Kerschl (A)

The solicitation for this book gleefully advertises the fact that this book is now BI-MONTHY! Awesome, now I have to wait longer to get my fix. Hey, on an honest note, I wish more books would do this if it meant keeping the story and art strong.

Days of Hate #12 (of 12) (Image)

Aleš Kot (W) Danijel Žeželj (A)

The end of this heart wrenching saga and much like the passing of a loved one who maybe didn’t love you enough, I am both sad and thrilled.

A Walk Through Hell #7 (Aftershock)

Garth Ennis (W) Goran Sudzuka (A)

Each issue of this book finds a way to give me new phobias. Join me in the ever deepening pit of despair I seem to be digging for myself.

Deadly Class #36 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Wes Craig (A)

If you haven’t watched the first episode of this show, do yourself a favor and fix that shit pronto.

Gideon Falls #10 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Andrea Sorrentino (A)

I like hiding under covers so, here I am ten issues into Gideon Falls.

“Terrance Phillip?” a voice called from the other side of the door. Reflexively he stood, pushing the chair out from behind him and almost stumbling.
“No. Sit down, sir.”
Terrance was confused, but the voice was commanding, so he sat back down slowly.
“That was just a test of your response time. We’ll call you into the room shortly.”
