This was getting old. Thomas had spent the last few weeks browsing the internet for any job that he could submit an application to. He was tired of the advice from friends and the critical stares from family members. He was trying God dammit. No one had the right to…. He got a response. It was an offer. The email was titled “54k”.

The Lone Ranger #5 (of 5) (Dynamite)

Mark Russell (W) Bob Q (A)

While this hasn’t been my favorite thing written by Russell, this was definitely a fun ride with a lot of good, strong story telling moments. If you missed this one, definitely pick up the trade. I mean seriously, are you really going to re-read The Brothers Karamazov again? Read this instead.

Aquaman #45 (DC)

Kelly Sue DeConnick (W) Robson Rocha/Daniel Henriques (A)

Still haven’t decided how I feel about this run yet. It has been interesting so far and it looks like they’re going to be introducing a whole bevy of new cast members. I’m intrigued to say the least.

Justice League #18 (DC)

James Tynion IV (W) Pasqual Ferry (A)

In the epic story of Lex Luther, it’s time to take another L. Sorry Lex.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #3 (Marvel)

Saladin Ahmed (W) Javier Garron (A)

Ahmed has the fantastic ability of humanizing some of the best villains. I loved how they treated Rhino and that along solidifies my recommendation of this book. Put that shit on the hardcover.

Avengers #15 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) David Marquez (A)

Okay, somehow this vampire thing has transcended multiple comics. I’m looking at you Captain Marvel. Let’s get to it. I wanna see Captain America punch Dracula. Can I see that before I die? Jesus.

Catwoman #8 (DC)

Joëlle Jones (W) Elena Casagrande (A)

Cats like fish, right? Penguins like fish, right? DC I’ll take my money, thank you.

Wild Storm #20 (WildStorm)

Warren Ellis (W) Jon Davis-Hunt (A)

This book never ceases to impress me. I mean, honestly, that shouldn’t surprise me at this point. We’ve only been doing this dance for years now. What am I doing with my life?

Batman #65 (DC)

Joshua Williamson (W) Guillem March (A)

Well, I’m pretty sure that all of this was going to end horribly to begin with. That’s life though. I mean literally ask Batman.

Guardians of the Galaxy #2 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Geoff Shaw (A)

There is a lot to unpack with issue one. I literally had to research all the shit that happened with the Infinity event to get some of the important plot points. So, while I wasn’t a big fan of that, there is an insane amount of fun to be had in this book.

Lucifer #5 (Vertigo)

Dan Watters (W) Sebastian Fiumara/Max Fiumara (A)

Have you ever been down and out? Gotten your eyes ripped out after being hurled from heaven? The devil feels you dude. It’s time to worship Satan!

Venom #11 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Ryan Stegman (A)

Really? I have to convince you to read this? Still. What the fuck, dude?

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #3 (Marvel)

Tom Taylor (W) Juann Cabal (A)

Man, I think this is going to be another series that hurts me. Let me go put on my pain suit. It’s time to crawl in a hole and cry about a picture book.

Exorsisters #5 (Image)

Iam Boothby (W) Gisele Lagace (A)

This book has a tone all its own. Comedic, and light, with a painfully dark core. Who knows why I do this to myself? I have yet to discover my purpose.

Seven To Eternity #13 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Jerome Opeña (A)

Remember all that depression stuff? Like, hear me out, what if depression but also Lord of the Rings? I think that would be, like, totally dope.

East of West #41 (Image)

Jonathan Hickman (W) Nick Dragotta (A)

Is it weird that part of me is happy that this series is taking so long to wrap up this arc? We only have one more arc after this. I have separation anxiety.

Surely it was a scam. His hope dashed by his own solid skepticism. Then there was another message, with a higher number, then another. Suddenly, his email was awash with praise and offers in dollar amount that were entirely too high. His phone went off, it was an odd ring, one that wasn’t the one he used. The phone said “President”.
