The wind carried tones of October on its heels. Something vaguely familiar filled her head as she walked out onto the balcony. The assault on her senses just right to bring back those distinct memories of a time when she had no responsibilities, when life was easier, at least in retrospect. All those adages about those days being the ones she would cherish were right, and it almost made her angry the way she ignored that advice. She wasn’t the first though, and she wouldn’t be the last.

Giant-Man #1 (of 3) (Marvel)

Leah Williams (W) Marco Castiello (A)

There are a number of tie-ins with War of the Realms coming out in the next few weeks. This one stands head and shoulder above the others. Yes, that was a dad joke. Yes, it was completely worth it.

Farmhand #8 (Image)

Rob Guillory (W/A)

I feel like I’m always about to drop this book, which is unfair because it’s a good damn book. It’s fucking weird, it’s unlike anything else on the stands.

Planet of the Nerds #2 (Ahoy)

Paul Constant (W) Alan Robinson (A)

For some reason I misinterpreted what this book was, and the reality of what it is is way better than what I thought it was. That’s a plus.

Morning in America #3 (Oni Press)

Magdalene Visaggio (W) Claudia Aguirre (A)

Stranger Things meets It. You guessed it, there will be lots of teenage adventure and at least twice the bikes. Maybe a little supernatural terror for flavor.

Aquaman #48 (DC)

Kelly Sue DeConnick (W) Viktor Bogdanovic (A)

So the end of that first arc really showed some promising stuff for this run. I was iffy on this series about halfway through the arc, but I’m sold 100% now.

Ironheart #6 (Marvel)

Eve L. Ewing (W) Kevin Libranda (A)

This book has been a joy to read since the first issue. Ewing is bringing some incredible stuff to this character and really shaping her into something strong and polished.

Guardians of the Galaxy #5 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Geoff Shaw (A)

This series explores one of the coolest parts of the Marvel universe in extreme depth. You can tell that Cates has a passion for this part of the world.

Daredevil #5 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Marco Checchetto (A)

Fuck. Chip really loves this character, Checchetto really loves this character. I really love this book.

Justice League #24 (DC)

Scott Snyder (W) Jorge Jimenez (A)

Shit is going off the deep end in this book. This is the most I’ve enjoyed a Justice League title in a long long time. Just took me a little while to get there.

Little Bird #3 (of 5) (Image)

Darcy Van Poelgeest (W) Iam Bertram (A)

This book is the most violent fairy tale I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. It has a very strange vibe to it, and I can’t help but fall in love with the book.

Oblivion Song #15 (Image)

Robert Kirkman (W) Lorenzo De Felici (A)

This book is interesting. Its exploring some pretty complex issues that affect hundreds of veterans every year. I love the context and the gradual development that happened to get us there. Kirkman and Felici continue to bring the heat.

Batman #71 (DC)

Tom King (W) Mikel Janin (A)

The last issue was fucking nuts. Things are really coming to a head as we close in on issue 75. I am pumped for what this series has in store.

War of the Realms #4 (of 6) (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)

This is the most bonkers as fuck war comics of all time. This is the first event in a while that I think has actually lived up to the hype. Aaron and Dauterman pulled out the big guns (and swords) on this one.

Pearl #9 (DC)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Michael Gaydos (A)

This comic is beautiful. Every page is like a feast for the eyes, which i suppose is fitting for a book about a tattoo artist. This is peak Bendis stuff right here, I’m talking ground level Daredevil” stuff.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch #2 (of 5) (Archie)

Kelly Thompson (W) Veronica Fish (A)

What with the popularity of the Netflix show and the success of Kelly Thompson, I was expecting this series to be incredible. All that said, this is even better than I could have ever dreamed. Give this team an ongoing series please, thank you.

Skyward #13 (Image)

Joe Henderson (W) Lee Garbett (A)

As this comic goes along, and has more and more incredible arcs, I am beginning to wonder how the fuck they’ll adapt this to film. They’re actively attempting to do it, I just don’t know how it’ll work. Anyway, the comic is great.

The Amazing Spider-Man #21 (Marvel)

Nick Spencer (W) Humberto Ramos (A)

I’m really loving this arc. I think it’s a perfect display if this team’s pitch perfect handle on the character.

Spider-Man: Life Story #3 (of 6) (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Mark Bagley (A)

I find myself getting excited about the mere concept of this book. That being said, the people in charge of bringing that concept to fruition couldn’t be better. I’ve laughed and cried. This is the closest I’ve felt to Peter in years.

The Immortal Hulk #17 (Marvel)

Al Ewing (W) Joe Bennett (A)

The motherfucking gray boy is back. I doubt know how they keep doing it, but this comic is still getting better. Really exploring the nooks and crannies of the Hulk mythos.

Low #22 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Greg Tocchini (A)

This series is coming to an end soon. Not sure on the specifics yet, but Remender has confirmed it is coming. I am even more depressed than this comic normally makes me.

Gideon Falls #13 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Andrea Sorrentino/Dave Stewart (A)

Fucking hell, this book is so god damned amazing. It’s a mind bending horror that just sucks the life out of you whenever you flip its pages. Catch the fuck up, the train is leaving the station.

She thought back to the burning passion of her youth. Ignorance both clouding her decisions and pushing her headlong through life. Her lover walked through the door behind her, wrapping himself around her as she stared longingly into the horizon. The metal that hung close to her hip was warm to her touch as she gripped it tightly.
