He closed his eyes for the last time. Well, the last time in this dimension. Well, the last time in this dimension, he thought. Harold was very easily tricked. After his close friends discovered he planned on injecting a mind altering substance into just arms before submersing himself in a sensory deprivation tank for a full day, in some plan to leave the Earthly existence. Harold shopped at Whole Foods, which may have explained why he thought this might work. His friends had hatched a plan to surprise him when he came out.

DC Nation #0 (DC)

Scott Snyder/Brian Michael Bendis/Joshua Williamson/James Tynion IV/Tom King (W) Clay Mann/Jorge Jimenez/ Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez (A)

This is the introduction to the next era of DC comics. I mean, kinda, it just explains what is gonna be happening in their biggest books this upcoming year, but only for a quarter! It also broke a bunch of records for issue sales. So, your shop will totally have it.

Avengers #1 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Ed McGuinness (A)

I’m really pumped about this series. I love Aaron, and I’m anticipating his take on this series. On top of that we get McGuinness on interiors and I’m drooling already.

Death or Glory #1 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Bengal (A)

ANOTHER REMENDER SERIES. AND BENGAL IS DOING THE ART FOR IT AND THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY I CAN ONLY USE CAPS.

Green Arrow #40 (DC)

Jackson Lanzing/Collin Kelly (W) Marcio Takara (A)

This arc has been interesting so far, but after this arc it’s over we get another new creative team. I wonder when they’ll land on a long term team.

Astonishing X-Men #11 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Ron Garney (A)

The series won’t end after this! This is the end of Soule’s run, but starting with issue twelve, Matthew Rosenberg, that’s really fucking exciting. I know Rosenberg absolutely loves the X-men, so I want to see what he’ll do with UNLIMITED POWER!

Doctor Star and The Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows #3 (Dark Horse)

Jeff Lemire (W) Max Fiumara (A)

This series has been perfectly heartbreaking all the way through. I mean, it isn’t over yet, but still it’s probably not going to get much better for Doctor Star. I love the framework that Lemire is building for this universe.

Captain America #701 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) J.G. Jones/Leonardo Romero/Adam Hughes (A)

Big old celebration piece for Captain America! Look at that team on interiors. I am already in love with this issue.

The Grave Diggers Union #6 (Image)

Wes Craig (W) Toby Cypress (A)

After a month hiatus, our favorite natural disaster/Lovecraft/southern drama comic is back. I can’t wait.

Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles #5 (of 6) (DC)

Mark Russell (W) Mike Feehan (A)

This is one of my favorite unexpected comics of the last year. It has surprised me with every issue. It’s extremely smart satire that tackles real issues. Read this book.

Batman #46 (DC)

Tom King (W) Sandu Florea (A)

Booster Gold disregards the rules of time travel, again! WHAT A SHOCKER!

Sex Criminals #24 (Image)

Matt Fraction (W) Chip Zdarsky (A)

OUR TWO STAR CROSSED LOVERS ARE GETTING BACK TOGETHER? OR IS IT JUST THAT THEY’RE BOTH CONFUSED BECAUSE FALLING IN LOVE IS COMPLICATED? WHO KNOWS?

Black Science #35 (Image)

Rick Remender (W) Matteo Scalera (A)

With only seven issues left, is this the beginning of the last arc? Probably. That’s sad.

East of West #37 (Image)

Jonathan Hickman (W) Nick Dragotta (A)

Man, this release schedule is chaotic. That’s sad.

As Harold crawled out from his mind into the new world he had willed into existence with the help of a few kale shakes and GMO-Gluten free cornbread, he saw something worse than he could imagine. He had transported into a world completely comprised of carnivores, or a restaurant that sold steak. He wasn’t great at processing much at this moment. If he had been, maybe he wouldn’t have gone into cardiac arrest. Maybe his friends wouldn’t have been wiping streaks of blood from their lips as they rushed to his side. In another dimension, he may have been better off.
