The only time Kimmy felt she could relax was when she left her house. For the last few months, her house had been a tornado of anger and stress. She wasn’t doing well in school, but that wasn’t her fault. That’s what she told her dad, but her dad didn’t believe her. He never took her “mood swings” seriously. Kimmy had been researching her problems for months and she found a group online that explained everything. She had bipolar disorder, or at least she believed she did. Kimmy wasn’t one to just claim something this serious just to weasel her way out of her responsibilities, she wanted to go to a doctor, but her father wasn’t having it. After another shouting match, she had stormed out of her house. She grabbed her bike and took off towards her oasis.

Multiple Man #1 (of 5) (Marvel)

Matthew Rosenberg (W) Andy MacDonald (A)

I am really excited about this limited. Rosenberg has an amazing voice that pierces any comic he works on. This being on of the most fun/difficult characters in the Marvel universe, I fully expect him to shine on this book. As for MacDonald, I know what you’ve done, MacDonald. You may have fooled everyone else, but I’ll never forget.

The Sentry #1 (Marvel)

Jeff Lemire (W) Kim Jacinto (A)

Hey! Jeff Lemire. I wonder if he’ll show up again this week! Probably not, I mean what are the odds? This is another series I am really interested in. My knowledge on this character is pretty limited if I’m being honest. I mean I know the ins and outs, but this team on that character? I am beyond happy.

Blackwood #2 (Dark Horse)

Evan Dorkin (W) Veronica Fish (A)

I am really torn on this book. I really, really, really love the premise, but I’m a really, really, really bad writer so there’s no hope I could explain why. The book is basically Scooby Doo showed up at Hogwarts and had to fight Cthulhu. There was just something about the first issue that didn’t sit right, that being said, I’m a moron, so ignore me.

Moon Knight #196 (Marvel)

Max Bemis (W) Ty Templeton (A)

Fuck me, man. This next arc is going to be absolutely bananas, and that’s considering that this comic is literally about a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder, among a number of other things. I mean, the last issue was a kaleidoscope of trippy imagery and weird body horror goo-creatures. I’m pumped.

Wonder Woman #49 (DC)

James Robinson (W) Jesus Merino (A)

Yeah, evil Gods of, like, evil dimensions and shit. And they’re all pissed and stuff and want to punch Diana in her mouth, cause like, fuck her, right? They’re the Gods now, you know?

The Silencer #6 (DC)

Dan Abnett (W) Viktor Bogdanovic (A)

This comic is just unadulterated fun. If you don’t like fun, don’t read this book, man. In all seriousness, this comic is a riotous romp through some of the shadier parts of the DC universe. It’s a concept that I was hesitant on in the beginning but each issue seals the deal even more.

Bloodstrike #23 (Image)

Michel Fiffe (W/A)

Dude. I picked up the first issue of this one. I wasn’t going to. I need money, but I couldn’t help myself. Dammit if I’m not excited for the new EXTREMIST line. Having a bunch of lesser known, indie writers tackling the big Liefeld heavy hitters for Image is going to be a treat. Keep an eye out for this stuff.

Ms. Marvel #31 (Marvel)

G. Willow Wilson/ Saladin Ahmed/ Rainbow Rowell (W) Gustavo Duarte/Elmo Bondoc/Nico Leon (A)

It’s the fiftieth issue of Ms.Marvel….Well, this iteration of Ms.Marvel. That’s exciting because I’ve been on board with Kamala since day one and I have loved her through thick and thin. Plus, look at the talent coming to this issue. You’d have to be a fool not to read that line up.

Old Man Logan #42 (Marvel)

Ed Brisson (W) Dalibor Talajic (A)

I’m already in love with this arc. Much like my love life, when I get attached things tend to end very quickly. So, basically, the universe has to even itself out and this arc is only two issues. Awesome.

X-O Manowar #16 (Valiant)

Matt Kindt (W) Trevor Hairsine (A)

So, I really fucking love the direction that this book went when Aric headed to Earth. It’s not at all what I was expecting. Honestly, I was very cautious because I know this is a tie in to an event I’m not reading. That tends to get sticky, but this has managed to pleasantly shock me.

Black Panther #2 (Marvel)

Ta-Nehisi Coates (W) Daniel Acuna (A)

So, this new series is fucking brilliant. BRILLIANT! The space theme was something I was afraid was tacked on, but dammit, like a large percentage of my life, I was wrong. Great story telling.

The Terrifics #5 (DC)

Jeff Lemire (W) Evan Shaner (A)

Can I gush about how excited I am that Evan Shaner is on this book for another issue, oh, no? I can’t? This isn’t the place to go on a babbling rant about the wholesome quality of his work or his ability to capture these characters in their truest nature? Oh, I guess I won’t then.

Thor #2 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Michael del Mundo (A)

If the last Thor run was a metal ballad, this series is like fucking speed metal. Get ready to thrash violently against the very fabric of the ten realms.

Venom #3 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Ryan Stegman (A)

Two issues deep, and this book is still better that Watchmen. Fight me.

Marvel 2-in-One #7 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Paco Medina (A)

The next arc starts, but I’m still having lots of feelings about Doom after that annual. Someone please come to my house and comfort me. I just want my little man in metal to feel better. I’ve been a bad mother.

The Realm #7 (Image)

Seth M. Peck (W) Jeremy Haun (A)

This series is what happens when the Walking Dead survivors play a game of D&D. It has this beautiful mixture of surreal fantasy and true human stuggle. It’s brilliant, I really hope these guys blow up.

Outcast #36 (Image)

Robert Kirkman (W) Paul Azaceta (A)

That big thing I’ve been talking about is here… I think. You know what, I’ve played this game long enough, I know your tricks Kirkman. Something is going to happen to rob me of my big bang boom battle, but somehow I won’t feel mad about it. I see you, Robert.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #306 (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Adam Kubert (A)

Can we just talk about how fucking great the J. Johan Jameson characterization and arc is for this book. He has become one of my favorite parts of this run. That’s what happens when you get two powerhouses in their prime on a book together. Fucking yes.

Descender #31 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W) Dustin Nguyen (A)

Oh look at that Lemire is on my list a third time. What are the odds? I am really sad that this book is ending soon. I know I’ve said it time and time again (and be ready for me to say it about like half of my favorite books soon), but damn. This story was a trip and the last couple issues point in the direction of a soul crushing/brilliantly deserved ending.

Sex Criminals #25 (Image)

Matt Fraction (W) Chip Zdarsky (A)

Oh look, Zdarsky on my list a third time too. What are the odds? It should come as no surprise that the guys who writes this weekly write-up love the book that is just one big dick joke with a warm gooey core. Okay, maybe there is a better way of saying that. Nope, nope, gonna leave that in. (That’s what she said)

Saga #53 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Fiona Staples (A)

THAT SINKING FEELING IS WASHING OVER ME AGAIN. PLEASE MR.VAUGHAN, MS. STAPLES, DON’T END THE SERIES YET. GIVE ME TIME TO PREPARE. I’M PROBABLY OVER REACTING, BUT, YOU KNOW, BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY, RIGHT?

Royal City #12 (Image)

Jeff Lemire (W/A)

Not to be outdone by Zdarsky (no one wants that), Lemire lands in my pulls for a fourth time, proving once again that you can be a big ole sad-boy and still be productive. I am waiting to have my heart cleaved from my chest. Just do it now, I can’t wait any longer.

Kill or Be Killed #20 (Image)

Ed Brubaker (W) Sean Phillips (A)

Can I just pretend the last two years didn’t happen just so I can reread this book for the first time. Everything good comes to and end, I suppose. I’m just not ready yet.

She pulled up at a fence, it was old. You could tell that it was once a beautiful blue shade, but the years had peeled the paint off of the wood. It was swollen and green underneath the now pale ghost of what was once the paint. Just beyond the fence was a lush green wood. Little paths made by small feet wound through the brush. The trees reached high and loomed above everything, making a ceiling of emeralds. The sun burst through in spots, framing the whole chaotic display of nature in this beautiful golden light. It was her favorite space, probably because it was the most foreign place she could imagine.
