Just one question I have to ask you….is Tom Cruise getting to old for this shit?  HELL NO!!!! He is only 56 years old. Ever since the first Mission Impossible movie came out in 1996, the world was never the same.  Ethan Hunt, a name just like James Bond resonates a certain a level of intensity that only they can deliver. Daniel Craig revamped Ian Fleming’s iconic character, James Bond to satisfy any adrenaline junkie to the point of frenzy.  Ethan Hunt did the same with the reboot of the old classic television series, Mission Impossible.  With the ever so famous soundtrack, Tom’s character Ethan Hunt once again, delivers a pulse pounding, in your face, action packed movie that you would have no heartbeat if you didn’t feel the rush oozing out of this film.

This film takes place two years later after the capture of the Syndicate leader,   Solomon Lane. Ethan is haunted by the dreams that plague his mind about all the decisions he’s made both personally and professionally.  Collateral damage is the only thing that occupies his mind. The question is, is his judgement compromised from doing his job and overt a nuclear disaster from happening, or is he a liability to the IMF organization.  His team is starting to feel the pressure of the job, but they fight on and work together with Ethan to accomplish the mission. Even though this film is filled with high action car and motorcycle chases, and Tom doing his hair raising stunts, there is some level of drama, comedy and intrigue to round out the movie.

Director Christopher Mcquarrie uses his talents to misdirect, deceive, and throw you off your game to deliver a film that will keep you guessing until the end.  I like that, nothing is predictable. It can only succeed if the right actors are used. As usual, Tom Cruise uses his acting skills to masterfully play a secret agent that is always three steps ahead of you.  The stunts that he does are pretty harrowing and down right scary. Simon Pegg who plays Benji is brilliant where he mixes action, humor, and drama into his character. Ving Rhames is more like the moral compass that the IMF team desperately needs.  His soft quiet demeanor and his technical expertise is something of a comfort in this film. It is refreshing to see Rebecca Ferguson back as the former MI6 agent, Ilsa Faust. She brings a cool, enigmatic feel to this team. Plus she can kick some serious ass.  Angela Bassett will always be one of my favorite actresses and I love her in this one. The new kid on the block is Henry Cavill, August Walker. The name sounds like a daily soap opera star. His addition to the Mission Impossible franchise is a delight. He can definitely match physical strength and prowess with Tom Cruise.  I won’t be surprise if we see him as the next James Bond (hint! hint!). Sean Harris, who plays the Syndicate Leader, is brilliant, cold, calculating, and ruthless without being an over the top megalomaniac. His quiet demeanor while playing head games with Ethan is quite ingenious. He definitely knows how to push the right buttons on Ethan.

This definitely lives up to the movie title.  Every minute, every second in this film is nail biting, on the edge of your seat action film that forces you to grabs your hair and pull every strand of follicle out of your head.  It is that intense. It is a mind F@#k and a head twister that will keep you guessing, “Can they pull this mission off”. You will leave this film satisfied that you survived this ordeal and that is the way it should be.

I give this film four out of five movie stubs.  Go see it!!!!
