Christopher Nolan is one of my favorite directors.  And it’s not a particular distinct style he might have, like Aronofsky or Boyle, but just an overall clean-cut filmmaking that just makes me love his movies.  Not to mention, he just picks good scripts to make into movies (and does a good job at it).

From Memento to The Prestige to the recent Batman trilogy to Inception, all his movies were great to me.  So when I heard he’s working on a space movie – you can bet I was damn excited.

His latest, Interstellar, seems to be filled with great cast, including:  Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, David Oyelewo and Ellen Burstyn.  I know… crazy right?

Unfortunately, other than McConaughey’s voice over about humanity, exploration and limits, and a handful of shots – the rest of the teaser footage seems to be B-Role or old archived footage; cuts that may not even be used in the film itself for all we know (or maybe in its prologue, like Adaptation or Tree of Life).  But what the trailer does do, with a beautiful score as its backdrop, is set up the theme of this upcoming film.  A theme that seems less rooted in sci-fi/action, but more rooted in the emotional aspect of the human spirit.

Of course, the film is about a group of explorers that take advantage of the newly discovered ability to travel through a wormhole – so who know’s what to expect.

Check out the trailer below.  Thoughts?
