Jim Lee has been the omnipresent deity of DC Comics lately and sometimes you just have to take a break. The demand of the job can be overwhelming I’m sure and no artist wants to be branded. Jim Lee leaving Justice League is not such a bad thing because we are getting Ivan Reis in his place. Reis who is currently working with Geoff Johns on Aquaman will jump over to the  book and join artist Joe Prado starting with issue 15 this December. Johns (who is also leaving Aquaman) and Reis have an excellent work history together including DC’s mega-blockbuster event ‘Blackest Night‘ (2009-2010), which I believe really turned the tide for DC. Lee is expected to be moving on to another title for DC which is unknown at this time, Lee is also going to be working with Scott Snyder in the near future to launch the new Superman title ‘Man of Steel‘, which will coincide with the Zach Snyder film of the same name in 2013. Here’s what Geoff J0hns had to say about the change-up and the future of the Justice League:

“There is no other choice for the next A-Star art team on JUSTICE LEAGUE. Ivan Reis and Joe Prado bring power, grace, emotion and epic storytelling worthy of the world’s greatest super heroes. From GREEN LANTERN to BLACKEST NIGHT to AQUAMAN, I couldn’t ask for better collaborators. The second year of JUSTICE LEAGUE will begin an adventurous, mysterious and heroic storyline focusing on our members as their greatest secrets are revealed…and the repercussions change the world. Ivan and Joe begin with a story they were born to draw — THRONE OF ATLANTIS — a story between JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN that will have the League experiencing what Aquaman does — they’ll be caught between land and sea. With new relationships developing – like Wonder Woman and Superman – new members coming on – like Shazam! and the all-new Atom — and new threats rising — like Ocean Master & Atlantis — the Justice League will grow and change as we march towards the impending TRINITY WAR.”

Stay tooned 😛
