Mad Max: Fury Road is gearing up to be one of my most anticipated films of next year. I’ve been a fan of the George Miller movies for years, and from what we’ve seen so far; it looks like he’s only gotten better in his older age and is really bringing the Fury to the newest installment.

From SDCC, Miller shared his storybooks with audiences, which served as his screenplay as the film. Check out what he said below.

“I was determined not to do conventional thing and do screenplay,” said Miller. “So we boarded whole thing like a comic book, with 3500 panels – there aren’t many words, people only speak when they have to and I wanted to tell the story in pictures.”

Miller also shared with audiences, the first trailer and  four new character posters. If you were worried the film wouldn’t have the same aesthetic as the earlier films, these posters should quell your fears.

Here’s the official synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road:

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.

And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

That trailer pretty much destroys everything I’ve seen in the past year. Please George Miller, please direct a Borderlands film, you obviously know what you’re doing after all these years.

Mad Max: Fury Road is directed by George Miller and will finally be with us in 3D on May 15th, 2015. The film stars: Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
