Whatever your preference may be for your superhero films, its hard to deny that Fox isn’t giving it the old “college try” when it comes to their super hero films. This year The Wolverine did a good job at showing that Fox isn’t just putting out movies to make money, they are actually taking the time to create a cohesive universe. With the addition of the legendary Mark Millar as an official consultant on these films, it looks as if we may have so hits in the near future, or should I say future’s past….

I am really looking forward to the next installment in the X-Men movie franchise, especially with such a huge and diverse cast. Days of Future Past is set to release next year, and it will be the first X-Men film to “truly” feature the Sentinels and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) will be playing their creator Bolivar Trask. Dinklage recently sat down with EW and had the following to say about his role in the film:

[box_light]“I didn’t want to play the villain,” Dinklage told EW. “He’s a man of science. He’s a man of invention. He actually sees what he’s doing as a good thing — [his ambition is] definitely blind and he’s quite arrogant. He’s strove all his life for a certain respect and attention.”[/box_light]

Right, because building giant mutant killing robots doesn’t make you a bad guy. I’m pretty sure that Hitler felt the same way.

Quicksiver X-Men Days of Future Past

Quicksilver has always been one of my favorite mutants in the X-Men universe and the fact that he has also been an Avenger is causing a bit of a rift in the comic book world. Well we know for sure that American Horror Story star Evan Peters will at least be playing the Fox Marvel version of the character and will be a true mutant. Peters describes the character as being a “twitchy teenager”, and whatever the case may be he will be the first one to portray the classic mutant. Check out what Peters had to say in a recent interview with IGN below.

Filming a character like Quicksilver..

“They used motion capture, I don’t know what I can say about it and not get in trouble, I really don’t. But they shot a lot of slow motion. They brought in an amazing camera, the Phantom — it’s, like, 3600 frames per second. They brought in these huge, bright lights and did some amazing, amazing stuff with it. I’m excited to see it all cut together and check all that out. It’s going to be really cool.”

On director Bryan Singer and fans reacting to the movie..

“Bryan Singer has a lot of creative freedom on these X-Men movies — he can do pretty much whatever he wants with them, the actor says of the changes, while also noting that the possibility of comics fans reacting negatively to any alterations was definitely discussed while making the film. “There’s always that risk, but I think at the end of the day, you want to try to make the best movie you can. You kinda gotta go with your gut on that.”

On Quicksilver existing in both movie universes..

“Well, my character can’t be in The Avengers, it’s going to be a different one. It won’t be me, it’ll be someone else. But yeah, I didn’t focus too much on it. I mean, what an amazing opportunity to be a part of X-Men. I’m gonna try to do the best job that I can and not let anyone down. That was pretty much where I was at with it. I just thought it was really cool to be a part of all the special effects stuff and the movies that I grew up loving. It’s awesome.”

Not much has been happening over in the Fantastic Four reboot camp. A few casting rumors have been floating around but nothing solid for this Josh Trank (Chronicle) project. Collider is reporting that Days of Future Past scribe, Simon Kinberg has signed on to help with a “signficant” rewrite of the script. There has been a lot of hands in the cookie jar on this one and its a wonder if the project will ever get off the ground. The reverting of the rights back to Marvel for FF would be beneficial on so many fronts as I would love to see them team up with The Avengers,  or go on a space adventure with the GOTG! Whatever happens Marvel’s First Family deserves a proper screen adaptation and so far Fox hasn’t done the most stellar of jobs.

Stay tooned 😛
