Towelites! It’s time once again to round up the latest news and rumors surrounding Marvel Studios Phase 2!

avengers-age-of-ultronhawkeye jeremy rennerSeems that Avengers 2 will be full of superheroes as the cast keeps growing! But if you are Joss Whedon, how do you write in everyone? In the first movie actor Jeremy Renner was a little upset about his character, Hawkeye’s involvement in the overall movie and he is hoping for a larger part. In an interview with ScreenRant, Whedon had the following to say:

[box_light]“It’s very much a global Avengers film. A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it’s nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys.”[/box_light]

War machine Don Cheadle

A character like Clint Barton deserves some good screen time and also a snarky script, but at the same time its easy to see how he could get overshadowed by the big guns. But it would seem that Renner is ready to give this one another shot, most likely because he is under contract. One thing we do know for sure is that Don “War Machine” Cheadle will be suiting up with the rest of the heroes as it has been confirmed via ScreenCrush that Cheadle will indeed have a role to play!

the_irredeemable_ant_coverThe next question on the Marvel movie table is what films will Marvel Studios make next? Well if the trademarks that they have just bought up give any indication we may have some great movies headed our way! It’s not always the case when it comes to trademarks, it could be that they are for items in the illustrated form. But it’s not hard to raise an eyebrow when names like Black Panther, Loki, and Age of Ultron, but when other properties like Alpha Flight, Journey into Mystery, New Warriors, and more are thrown in there, it helps to quell the speculation. One title that has gotten geeks talking is that Marvel registered a trademark for Irredeemable Ant-Man and with so many questions about what the upcoming Ant-Man movie will be about, which character will be in the main role, and so on. The star of Irredeemable Ant-Man was Eric O’Grady, a “lowly” S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who steals the Ant-Man suit and uses it for his own selfish needs. The character was created by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman who also wrote the series back in 2006/2007, the character showed up during the mega-event Civil War. With the liberties that Marvel has taken on their properties and also with the existence of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., this would be an interesting way to introduce the concept of Ant-Man to the masses. Still the question of how does Hank Pym play into all of this still exists. Finally today, the rumors of who will play Ant-Man in the film are flying all over the internet, one of them puts actor Paul Rudd (Anchorman) in the titular role, here’s the video where he once again denies any involvement, but we may have the answer of “who”, just watch:
