ghost reconUbisoft recently announced that they were adapting versions of their popular video game franchises, Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell. The films would be starring Michael Fassbender and Tom Hardy, accordingly. Chief-executive of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, Jean-Julien Baronnet, said that the movies should be have budgets close to $100 million dollars and be slated for 2014 release dates.

On top of that great news, we also learn that Baronnet also has plans to adapt a film version of their Ghost Recon games. Ubisoft is teaming up with New Regency to develop the movies and will remain creatively and financially involved throughout the filmmaking process. This is great news, because it holds promise that the adaptations will be faithful to the video games and fans will be able to get something more than Super Mario Bros.

We’ll keep you posted here at DFAT as more news from Ubisoft comes in!
