People have been speculating what will be the next Twilight. What will captivate audiences in a way that we can only imagine? With wooden acting and vampires that don’t bite people? I’m not one of those speculative people, but somewhere, someone, is asking these questions. It seems that Margaret Stohl has the answer to the tween crowd in the form of Beautiful Creatures, based off of Stohl’s novel of the same name. The trailer looks like a boring cross between Twilight and True Blood, with witches taking over the supernatural role rather than vampires. Take a look at the synopsis and trailer below thanks to Empire.

A supernatural love story set in the South, “Beautiful Creatures” tells the tale of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Oscar(R) nominee Richard LaGravenese (“The Fisher King,””P.S. I Love You”) directs from his adaptation of the first novel in the best-selling series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich (“Tetro”), newcomer Alice Englert, Academy Award(R) winner Jeremy Irons (“Reversal of Fortune”) Oscar(R) nominee Viola Davis (“The Help,” “Doubt”), Emmy Rossum (TV’s “Shameless”) and Academy Award(R) winner Emma Thompson (“Howard’s End,” “Sense and Sensibility”).

It’s too bad the movie looks so boring, because the supporting cast to this movie is pretty amazing. Too bad they have to do THIS movie, and not something involving Wizard Werewolves or something. Beautiful Creatures comes out February 13th, 2013.
