I feel that there is absolutely no need for a Robocop reboot. Of course, I felt there was no need for a Fright Night one either, and actually really enjoyed it. I thank Marti Noxon for that. Anywho, the Paul Verhoeven original is a classic and Hollywood already screwed up Total Recall; so I feel like this will be a big waste of celluloid. The movie does have a lot of great actors in it, and I like the idea of getting a fresh director’s perspective on things. I’ll have to hold my judgement on it fully until February 2014 when it hits theaters. In the meantime, check out the new trailer and images below!

Here’s the official synopsis for RoboCop:

[box_light]In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.[/box_light]

Robocop stars: Joel Kinnaman, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley. The film opens February 7, 2014. ~Chaz
