It was a tragedy when we heard of the loss of Michael Clark Duncan earlier this year. He was a terrific actor in every role he played, and the movie world will miss him greatly. One of his most iconic roles was that of Manute, the golden-eyed killer from Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez‘s, Sin City film. With production on the film finally getting started this month, Rodriguez had to fill the role that Duncan so expertly played and decided to go with actor, Dennis Haysbert.

Haysbert is best known for playing President David Palmer on 24 and is the voice for All-State Insurance. Though, that last role may not have you convinced he has the acting chops to pull off the role, but I’m convinced he was the right choice for the role. Haysbert may not have the same hulking mass as Duncan, but with the movie being a prequel to the events in the first Sin City film, it’ll not be too jarring to fans to see Manute in a different light. Especially, since in this film and in the comic, he still has both of his eyes.
