As a long time Star Wars fan I am always studying up and looking for information that will give me more of an understanding of the galaxy far, far away. Growing up I was obsessed with the Expanded Universe and I would buy all of the dictionaries and encyclopedias out there. Now that the Star Wars universe has been “rebooted” by Disney I have a whole new cast of characters, vehicles, planets, and more to learn about. There isn’t too much out there as of now besides the books, comics, and the latest visual dictionary but you gotta start somewhere right?! 
This week, StarWars.com released a brief backstory about the Stormtrooper with the stun baton that Finn battled outside of Maz Kanata’s castle on Takodana, his name is FN-2199. Making an appearance in the book Before the Awakening, FN-2199 is part of the riot control force for the First Order. He also goes by the name “9’s” which reminds me a lot of Fives from The Clone Wars. Giving the Stormtroopers more of a backstory is a big deal in my book because they also did it in Clone Wars (with the clones) and by making them for individual it allows fans to connect with these characters.
