Lots of stuff happened this weekend in the world of Hollweird, so much so that we’re compiling them all in this edition of Weekend Randomness. We have news about Mission Impossible, Minority Report, and more! So let’s get to it shall we?

  • Ralph McQuarrie is hard at work on Mission Impossible 5. They are bringing back the team that made Ghost Protocol work so well, but adding a new/old addition to the cast. Ving Rhames will be back this time and its probably good too; because what’s that guy really been up to since MI:2?

  • The next J. K. Rowling adaptation is on it’s way, and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them may be getting a director. David Yates is in talks to helm the movie, familiar already with the Potter universe. Yates has directed every Harry Potter film since The Order of the Phoenix.

  • Minority Report was one of the most fantastic movies I’ve ever seen. It had one of my favorite actors, Tom Cruise. It was shot by Steven Spielberg and the storyline is something I could very much see become a reality in the future. The Philip K. Dick book is now being tapped to become a tv series, and it will be written by Godzilla scribe, Max Borenstein. That’s where my excitement ends. I was so thoroughly bored by the movie

  • Quentin Tarantino is hard at work with The Hateful Eight. If you go into theatres to see Sin City this weekend you’ll see your first trailer of the film. No footage as of yet, just a voice-over and western background. Since the film is not shooting yet, he still has room to cast for the film, and there’s a rumor out there that he wants to add Jennifer Lawrence to the star studded flick.
  • Guillermo Del Toro’s horror thriller, The Strain, is getting picked up for a second season. I’ve heard only tepid reviews it, but tepid seems to be okay for FX.

That’s it for this rousing edition of Weekend Randomness. Stay Tooned for next time Towelites!
