It was just a matter of time before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker would be coming off the top of the Top Ten. Following the wins at The Golden Globes last weekend, 1917, was able to rise to the #1 spot by earning $36 million. This is great news for director Sam Mendes and cinematographer Richard Deakins, as the film was able to snag 10 Oscar nominations on top of their Box Office win.

The newest films to enter the Top Ten were Like a Boss, Just Mercy, and Underwater who all debuted at 4th, 5th, and 7th, respectively. For Like a Boss and Just Mercy, whose budget was around $10 million, they already earned their money back. Underwater didn’t fare so well and further solidifies the fact that Kristen Stewart doesn’t need to headline a big budget film unless it stars sparkling vampires. You can see all of the Top Ten below.

  • 1. 1917 $36,500,000
  • 2. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker $15,059,000
  • 3. Jumanji: The Next Level $14,000,000
  • 4. Like a Boss $10,000,000
  • 5. Just Mercy $10,000,000
  • 6. Little Women $7,650,000
  • 7. Underwater $7,003,000
  • 8. Frozen 2 $5,761,000
  • 9. Knives Out $5,725,000
  • 10. Spies in Disuise $5,108,000

This weekend is the premier of Bad Boys For Life and Dolittle. The former is a film that I’ve been waiting since 2003 to see and I really hope it doesn’t disappoint. Michael Bay isn’t behind the camera and I honestly think that was a big part of the charm, but we’ll see what newcomers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be able to pull off. Find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup which one takes that #1 spot!
