We knew that it had to happen eventually, it was all just a matter of time. It seems that time is now with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil taking down Joker at the Box Office by overtaking the #1 position by earning $36 million. Overall though, Joker, has gone on to earn over $247 million in the States. So, yes it took a dip, but not a huge one and considering the budget was much lower than the $185 million for Maleficent; its still up.

The other premiere this weekend was Zombieland 2: Double Tap. The ten year sequel earned $26 million and took the #3 position at the Box Office. That may not seem like a lot, but when you consider the budget was only about $46 million, then its actually quite a win for the film. The rest of the Top Ten are below.

1.Maleficent: Mistress of Evil$36,000,000
2.Joker $29,205,000
3. Zombieland 2: Double Tap $26,725,000
4. The Addams Family $16,057,007
5. Gemini Man$8,500,000
6.Abominable $3,500,000
7. Downton Abbey $3,080,000
8. Judy $2,055,975
9. Hustlers $2,050,000
10. IT: Chapter Two $1,505,000

Next weekend, for some reason, are no new horror movies. You’d think it would be a perfect time to release Doctor Sleep as it is right before Halloween; but alas, it is not. So random that we no longer get horror movies released on Halloween, with the exception of last years Halloween (heh). Will Maleficent be able to stay at the top next week or will Joker come back up the ladder? Find out what happens on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
