Listen, most sites are going to tell you how little Birds of Prey made. I don’t want to focus on the negative though, as the film has been met with critic acclaim amongst film reviewers and fans alike. Unfortunately, they just didn’t spend the money to see the movie. It was able to take the #1 spot this weekend and dethrone Bad Boys for Life by earning $33 million, with an additional $48 million overseas; bringing its worldwide total to $81 million. Given that the film was produced for $85 million (+marketing costs), I’m sure it’ll make its money back. Its just going to be a long road to get there.

You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

  • 1. Birds of Prey $33,250,000

  • 4. Dolittle $6,660,000
  • 5. Jumanji: The Next Level $5,530,000

Next weekend, we have a little blue hedgehog streaking its way into the theatre. That’s right folks, the debut of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. I honestly I’m pretty excited to see this one and I really hope its good. I’m glad that Sega and company took the time to give the fans the aesthetic look the character deserves and the marketing has been pretty fantastic so far. Will it take down Harley Quinn and company? Likely, yes it will; but find out if I’m right on the next edition of Weekend Roundup.
