I am going to ask a serious question here. I still have to catch up on the recent Green Lantern arc and the prelude to ‘Rise of the Third Army’, but I am wondering why someone who has one of the mightiest weapons in the galaxy needs to carry a gun? Not even John Stewart, who is a military guy, carries one. It is very confusing. I guess time will tell with this Lantern. NONE THE LESS, DC Collectibles has a preview for the brand new member of the Green Lantern Corps and the first Arab-American superhero, Simon Baz.

Simon Baz was just an average Lebanese-American guy from Dearborn, Detroit. When he was ten years old, he and the rest of his family watched their television in horror as airplanes flew into the World Trade Center. As Simon grew up, he and his Muslim family found themselves falling under intense suspicion and ostracism in the days, months and years following the attacks. After the financial crisis hits the US, Detroit is one of the hardest hit areas. Simon is fired from his job and in a moment of desperation he steals the wrong car, which inadvertently steers him into a terrorism probe. Out of nowhere he is unexpectedly called to join the universe’s galactic police force known as the Green Lantern Corps.

Baz will be a member of the New(ish) 52’s NEWEST team, the Justice League of America, coming soon from Geoff Johns. ALSO, “Rise of the Third Army” starts this October!

Stay tooned 😛
