Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon made a comic for Vertigo. The comic followed a man named Jesse Custer, who gets possessed and has the ability to tell people to do anything he commands them to. He takes his newfound powers on an adventure with his girlfriend and vampire buddy, to track down God and make him answer for HIS sins. The comic is one of the best things I’ve ever read in my entire life. The comic is called Preacher.

I have been wanting to see some form of Preacher come to the small screen for a long time now. Back in 1998, Ennis himself had shopped the idea to Kevin Smith to make the film for The Weinsteins’ and it got shot down. Since then, it’s been possibly a movie, possibly going to a cable network.

Today, we get news that the comic could be making it’s way to AMC in order to fill the void of Breaking Bad, The Killing, and Mad Men. We’ve heard some big names are attached to the show, including Seth Rogen.

Rogen went on to tweet:

Looks like about seven of years of hard work are about to pay off. I may get to bring one of my favourite stories ever to life.

Arseface. John Wayne, The Saint of Killers.[/box_light]

I hate to be so pessimistic but I don’t think this is ever going to happen. AMC lets a LOT of things slide; but a I guy who literally wants to punch God in the face is a bit to come to network TV. If we get some CONFIRMED news to come in, we’ll be sure to report here at DFAT!
