Jackie Brown is definitley my least favorite Quentin Tarantino film. In fact, I don’t really even like it all that much. It’s been years since I’ve seen it, and I’ve been meaning to get back to it; but other than Samuel L. Jackson talking about AK-47’s “killing every mutha f*ker in the room” I don’t even much remember the film. Anywho, today I found out some interesting news that I never realized.

I guess Jackie Brown is based off a book called Rum Punch by American novelist and screen writer Elmore Leonard. Leonard has been making such things as: Out of Sight, Get Shorty, and the Justified TV show. So, this guy is pretty amazing! I now have the feeling that Tarantino must have just mucked up Leonard’s book and gave it the “Death Proof” treatment of being too talky and un-cool.

I digress though, I guess they are going to make a prequel to the movie and will feature younger versions of Samuel L. Jackson, Robert DeNiro, and Bridgette Fonda‘s characters being portrayed as Mos Def, John Hawkes, and Isla Fisher respectively.

Variety reports that THE SWITCH will be the directorial debut for Dan Schechter and will follow Ordell (Mos Def), Louis (Hawkes) as they kidnap a corrupt Detroit real estate developer’s wife (Jennifer Aniston). Their plan is complicated when the husband refuses to pay a ransom for the safe return of his wife.

I guess, we’ll keep you posted as more news comes in on this movie. I don’t know if I really care about the characters from the Jackie Brown world, but I’ll hold off judgement until I see a trailer. There’s no news if Tarantino will come on board as a producer or to spruce up the script. I hope he’s too busy writing prequel to From Dusk til Dawn.

*Let it be known that Aniston already starred in a movie called The Switch with Jason Bateman and it was HORRIBLE. Let’s hope they change the name as to not confuse the movie-going public.
