Rob Liefeld, creator of properties such as Youngblood (in words Image Comics), Deadpool, Cable (need I say more), and an all around A-hole, has left DC Comics despite currently helming 3 books for them  (Savage Hawkman, Deathstroke, and Grifter). As much as I want to say that this is all Liefeld causing an uproar, we do have to look back at legendary George Perez leaving the current Superman title, due to “creative differences”. Is the new flagship headed in the wrong direction?! I for one don’t care either way, I have never been a fan of Liefeld’s big mouth, but do love his characters. Kinda a shame, I was looking forward to the Deathstroke vs LOBO battle that Liefeld arranged in Deathstroke #12 (remember how much I love reflective shots!), and his run in with W.I.L.D.C.A.T.S. member Zealot in #13!! How much old school Image flair could Liefeld have offered?!  The Grifter TPB is where to start I think that in the next 2-3 years we are going to see a surge on independent titles and Image will capitalize.  See below for Liefeld’s blow-up on Twitter.

Officially got off the DC52 treadmill this morning.I believe in what DC is doing, but had to preserve my sanity. I walked off all 3 books. Can’t wait to see any attempts to spin. I have every email. This is the 4th time I quit in the last 4 months. This time it will stick. Never thought the Image section of my book would be topped. This last year was a humdinger. The DC52 chapters will go top all of it. […] Reasons are the same as everyone’s that you hear. I lasted a few months longer than I thought possible. Massive indecision, last minute and I mean LAST minute changes that alter everything. Editor pissing contests… No thxnjs. [sic] Last week my editor said ‘early on we had a lot of indie talent that weren’t used to re-writes and changes … made it hard.’ Uh, no, it’s you. Don’t look for any tell all interview with me. Just follow this feed. … the best stuff has not been shared — not even close!
