The Playstation Vita is slimming down and revving up with a new Borderlands 2 bundle (to retail for $199 US) set to be released in the Spring. The newest version of the portable, which has replaced the OLED screen for a LCD version (the only real downgrade of the new model), has been available in Japan since Summer 2013 and was debuted in Europe on February 7th. An additional perk of the Borderlands 2 bundle is that it will include six DLC, Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Psycho Character Class, Mechromancer Character Class, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1 and the Collector’s Edition Pack. Playstation has also announced that players who already own Borderlands 2 on their PS3s will also be able to cross save their progress with the handheld version.
For those of you interested in the tech specs, Playstation states it is 20% slimmer and 15% lighter than its predecessor with 1GB of on board memory. For those purchasing the Borderlands 2 bundle, they will receiver an 8GB card. Players will enjoy 4-6 hours of game play, and 7 hours of video playback.
During a report earlier this year, it was announced that nearly 48% of the console’s sales were digital. One in three Vita owners also has a PS4.
Also, to the delight of God of War fans, the series will be coming to the console on March 6th.
