With Star Wars: Episode VII coming out next year, I was hoping that we’d be getting some more official news from the J. J. Abrams-directed space fantasy! As it stand today, we only have it confirmed that R2-D2 is going to be in the film. Other than that, we have more to feed into the rumor mill.

First, we have word that the script has been re-worked to include Han, Luke, and Leia. I already thought that was news, but I guess it’s a bit more official now. The script before was being written by Michael Ardnt, who has been pushed off the project, with Lawrence Kasden writing the script now. Before, the focus would be on the offspring of our heroes, but it seems like Abrams wants to give Luke, Han, and Leia a proper send off; so at least the first film would have a focus on them.

Ok, so let’s get to the casting. Hugo Weaving is being eyed as an Imperial Commander, with Michael Fassbender and Adam Driver in unknown roles. Jesse Plemons is going in for a face-to-face with Abrams later this week to discuss what could be the role of the offspring of Luke.

It’s all a lot to take in and try and figure out, and I could go on about how I believe Fassbender could make a fantastic clone of The Emperor; but that’s for a separate post in itself. For now, know that all those actors will probably be meeting with Abrams soon to discuss a possible role in Episode VII.

I really hope we can get some confirmed details sooner than later, but at the pace things are going right now, we probably won’t hear anything until May.
